Carmelo Anthony's Amazing Preformance

Today I decided to blog about yesterdays great game by the New York Knicks  Forward Carmelo Anthony. Yesterday night at Madison Square Garden in New york City Carmelo Anthony Scored 62 points which is the most points by a Knick in a game. He also Scored the most points by anyone ever at Madison Square Garden Surpassing the Los Angeles Lakers Guard Kobe Bryant who previously scored 61 in a game game against New York. Also to go along with his 62 points he ripped down 13 rebounds. This comes no where near NBA record of points held by former Los Angeles Laker Wilt Chamberlain who scored 100 points in a game but Carmelo's Performance was still remarkable.

2014 NFL Draft -Vikings First Round Pick

I've been a bit behind in my blogging for the past couple of days thanks to a weekend Basketball tournament. My St.John's team took 2nd place in the Stillwater tournament yesterday!

My topic for this post is the 2014 NFL draft which is going to be taking place in May 8-10th in New York City, at Radio City Music Hall. I love New York City. My family went there for the 4th of July 2 years ago. It was an awesome time!

So here is where I give my opinion on the upcoming NFL draft. I have been reading numerous articles about what sportscasters and journalists are saying regarding the picks for our hometown Vikings. With the lack luster season of 5-10-1, we have some options with the 8th overall pick.

In this article: http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2013/12/30/5255782/2014-nfl-mock-draft-jadeveon-clowney-johnny-manziel-bridgewater Dan Kadar states that he thinks that Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel is one of our options. I strongly agree with this pick for the following reasons:

Johnny Manziel can help the Vikings because he is mobile, he has had come from behind wins and although he is small in size (which I can relate to), he is a power house and a force to be reckoned with. His strong accurate arm is something that the Vikings need and we also have not had a quarterback since Dante Culpepper that is not afraid to find open space and take a hit.

Another option that we could have at the #8 pick would be Derek Carr from Fresno State. In this publication: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/mock-draft Dane Brugler and Rob Rang offer up a mock draft scenario that makes sense to me. I think Derek Carr is a good choice for the following reasons:

1. He had a brother in the NFL so, he more than likely understands what it takes
2. He has broken the most yards thrown in a season (at Fresno State) by throwing over 5000 passing yards and 50 touchdowns.

I'm still waiting to place my opinions on the Vikings Head Coach situation. We have a lot of changes happening in our football team, not to mention a new stadium in the process. Good! We obviously have some work to do!

100th Rose Bowl {Michigan State vs. Stanford}

Today was the 100th Rose bowl between Michigan State and Stanford. It was a close game with a final score of 24-20 in favor of Michigan State. Michigan's leading rusher was Jeremy Langford carrying the ball 23 times for 84 yards and a touchdown. Stanford's leading rusher Tyler Gaffney  ran the ball 24 times for 91 yards and a touchdown. Stanford was not able to establish a great game through the air only having 143 yards passing by Kevin Hogan, while on the other side Connor Cook (Michigan State) had a  career high in passing yards with 332 which was accompanied by 2 passing touchdowns and an interception.

Overall, it was a close game and fun to watch! My dad, my brother and I were cheering back and forth because it was close. I thought the refs did a great job officiating also.

I personally enjoyed watching this game because I have family in Michigan. It was a great day for Michigan as not only were they represented in the Rose Bowl but also the Detroit Red Wings were playing in the 2014 Winter Classic against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
